What is an email IP leak?
An email IP leak occurs when an email reveals an IP address you intended to keep private. For example, your email client may send traffic outside the VPN tunnel, or an SMTP server may include your IP address in the email headers. This test helps you check which IP addresses are exposed when you send an email.
How does the email leak test work?
When you click the Start test button, bash.ws generates a unique email address, such as some-id@bash.ws, and waits for a message. Send an email to this address; the subject and body are ignored. The test displays the IP addresses recorded in the email headers during delivery and warns you if your current IP address is exposed.
What kind of VPN connection can I check?
You can test any type of VPN connection, including IKEv2, IPsec, PPTP, and OpenVPN.
Can I use Outlook or another email client?
Yes. You can send the email using any email client. Different clients and email services may expose different IP information, so use the client and service you normally use.
Does the email leak test support Windows?
Yes. You can use any operating system. Simply send an email to the address generated by the test.
